has any of you ever read this story of moby dick?
it's a classic, but i don't know if it's widely read in europe.
I'm very curious about it.

@galit: i just picked it up in the library, translated version, think i'm going to give it a try :), but i can imagine it's not an easy one.

ik heb er ooit grote delen van gelezen, lang geleden en dan uitgeleend aan ik weet niet meer wie :-(
ReplyDeletewil er nog wel eens terug in beginnen; je moet er wel tijd voor vrijmaken want het verhaal gaat heel traag.
Ik heb nog een heel dun boekje van Melville (Billy Budd), mocht je geinteresseerd zijn, laat maar horen dan.
Heb je de film ooit gezien met gregory peck in
de hoofdrol als kapitein Ahab?
@renilde: ik weet er eigenlijk helemaal niets over, geen film, geen verhaallijn. Heb 'm nu in de bib gevonden, samen met Alice in Wonderland. Binnenkort vakantie en veel tijd, misschien is dat het goeie moment.

ReplyDeleteSeriously though, Moby is a classic! I'm a girl, and I've even read it a couple of times when I didn't have to. If you want to see what you are getting yourself into I highly recommend the film version with Patrick Stewart. It is one of the newer releases.
(Sorry, if you don't know, I started with the first words of the book.)
@mom wald: the first words i recognized, but couldn't link them to this book. Thanks for the tip about the movie. It seems to be a hard one to start reading...
